* This is a gorgeous Bakelite fruit brooch with 3 large bright red carved cherries and 3 smaller un-carved cherries dangling from a bright red celluloid chain. The cherries and the bar have some very subtle yellow marbling. The 4 dark green celluloid leaves serve as a nice contrast to the cherries and the whole unit hangs from a bright red carved bar. This large classic Bakelite cherries brooch is highly collectible and super fun to wear!

* This Bakelite pin measures 4 1/2" long and 2 1/2" wide. The large carved cherries are 7/8" in diameter and the smaller round cherries are 5/8" in diameter.

* This beautiful pin is in excellent vintage condition, with no chips, cracks or visible scratches to the glossy Bakelite. The celluloid leaves are completely intact. The red celluloid chain has no fading and all of the links are intact. The stems have lost some of their green covering but most is still there and the string underneath shows no evidence of fraying. The pin mechanism is riveted on and in good working condition.

All bakelite is tested using a variety of methods. These include simichrome polish, hot water (smell test), tapping bangles together for the appropriate sound, and checking for mold lines and other discrepancies.
